Magesi FC goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze and team head coach Owen D Gama, along with
Chippa United defender Azola Ntsabo were chosen as outstanding contributors to good
football and success of their teams in the March prize winners. Chipezeze, the Zimbabwean international, was chosen as Player of the Month after he managed to keep a clean sheet in four matches and was outstanding as a key figure in play in those games as the last line of defence. He was handed the award by soccer scribes and broadcasters accredited to the Premier Soccer League for his acrobatic antics and composure in between the sticks, which highly contributed to team taking nine out of 12 points on offer in that month’s segment of games and improving the side’s league standing. Magesi’s winning streak in that month was only dented by Kaizer Chiefs with a narrow 2-1 away from home defeat. Chipezeze emerged victorious against stiff from recently promoted
Orlando Pirates defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi as well as recently acquired Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Jayden Adams from Stellenbosch FC. Betway Premiership Coach of the Month went the way of coach Da Gama after he guided Magesi to three wins and three clean sheets apart from a narrow loss to AmaKhosi in the fourth match of the segment of games. Da Gama took over the reins at Magesi while they were at the rock bottom of the premiership table and guided them to four victories in five outings, an impressive feat that saw the side move further up the ladder away from the relegation zone, as they now safely stand at 11th position in the 16-team league with 26 points from 24 games. It was a heavily contested win for Da Gama, who closely beat the likes of TS Galaxy’s Adnan Beganovic as well as Marumo Gallants’ Abdeslam Ouaddou. The Betway Premiership Goal
of the Month was claimed by Ntsabo’s curling free kick from a distance against Polokwane City on March 15 and was deservedly voted the best goal for the month of March. Ntsabo’s goal, which was his first for the season edged out strong competition from Sundowns’ Lucas Ribeiro’s wonder-strike against AmaKhosi on March 1 in Tshwane.
Ribeiro has won the goals title twice in a row in January and February this year.
