African continental football powerhouse, Mamelodi Sundowns, has signalled a clear
warning of its intentions to remain on top of both continental and domestic soccer
food chain.

In just a space of a month, Sundowns has bagged yet another sponsorship in the
form of premium wellness brand Biogen South Africa which will be the official
supplements partner for its men and ladies teams.

In early April, Masandawana announced a partnership with Huawei, and just before
the end of April Biogen came into the picture as well, a move considered as a clear
warning to other clubs that the Yellow Machine means business as it cruises to
become the first club to etch its name on the brand new trophy of the Betway
Premiership trophy.

The Brazilians, as Sundowns is also fondly known to its avid fans, got to keep the old
trophy after winning it a record seven times in a row and if it annexes the
championship of the current league sponsors, this will be a record 8 th time straight
win of the league.

Downs spokesperson Tiyani Mabunda, welcomed the announcement of the new
partnership, which was facilitated by Roc Nation Sports International, the global
agency that has a longstanding consultancy with the club.

“At Mamelodi Sundowns, we’re driven by the pursuit of excellence. We seek to align
ourselves with partners who share our dedication to quality and performance.
Biogen’s established reputation and commitment to providing elite athletes with the best possible nutritional support makes them the ideal partner to fuel our players’
journey to success,” Mabunda said.

A former midfielder at the club, Mabunda said ‘due to the team’s hectic match
schedule and how periodization and recovery protocols are key, Biogen will help to
give our players the edge’.

Currently, Sundowns are poised for the championship of the domestic Betway
Premiership as they have occupied the number spot on the league since day one of
the start of the 2024/25. Masandawana is also in line to bag a second star of the Caf
Champions League if it can overcome Egyptian side Pyramids FC in the two-legged
final starting on May 28.

Since winning the first star in 2016, the Yellow Machine, whose slogan is ‘The Sky is
the limit’ has participated each and every Champions League competition ever since
and once finishing as runners-up and twice at semi-finals. The team has a strong
believe that this year is their year to add a second star.

Established in 2004, Biogen has built a strong, credible, and authentic reputation in
the South African sports nutrition and vitamin industry. “Our commitment to integrity,
demonstrated through authentic business practises, processes, and high quality
products, has solidified our position as an industry leader.

“As a sports and wellness brand that celebrates health and movement across all
sporting disciplines, it brings us great pleasure to align with one of the biggest
football brands on the African continent,” said Biogen brand manager Brandon
Fairweather.

He added; “There is an ethical synergy between our teams, underpinned by a high-
performance culture and commitment to excellence… The sky is the limit.”
