Marumo Gallants has announced the appointment of Lafitte Alexandre as the team’s new head coach.

The 28-year-old French man brings with him a strong track record in leading teams in both France and Côte d’Ivoire. Most recently, Alexandre managed to lead Stade d’Abidjan side to the Ivorian League title and qualification for the Caf Champions League group stages in the 2023/24 season.

His appointment follows the departure of Abdeslam Ouaddou, who parted ways with the club at the end of the recent season and has since been announced as the new Orlando Pirates coach, taking over from departed Spaniard Jose ‘Spanish Guiter’ Riveiro.

“Coach Alexandre has a clear understanding of the direction we are taking as a club,” Marumo Gallants president Abram Sello said in a statement. “Alexandre joins the club ahead of pre-season training, which is critical for continuity and alignment with our objectives.”

Coach Alexandre is expected to arrive in South Africa in two weeks’ time to join the team in pre-season training which officially begins on July 1.
