Top ZIM striker Tendai Ndoro found dead at his Joburg home

The Premier Soccer League has expressed its condolences following the death of former top Zimbabwean striker Tendai Ndoro.

Describing how it has been ‘deeply saddened’ to learn of the passing of Ndoro, the league said a moment of silence will be observed will be observed in his honour at all Betway Premiership fixtures this week.

During his heydays of play in the continent’s foremost league, Ndoro donned several club jerseys in his illustrious soccer career, representing clubs such as Mpumalanga Black Aces, Orlando Pirates, Ajax Cape Town and Highlands Park.

The League, in a media statement, extended its heartfelt condolences to the Ndoro family during what it described as a difficult time. “We shall be observing a moment of silence in his honour at all Betway Premiership fixtures this week,” the statement said.

The league also wished for his soul to repose peacefully. Ndoro, who was born on May 15, 1985, in Zimbabwe, died on August 18 aged 40. No cause of death has so far been provided but the striker is said to have been found dead at his Johannesburg home.

Speculation is rife that Ndoro’s death could have been caused by complications from long-term struggles with diabetes since 2021.
