The Premier Soccer League (PSL) is deeply saddened by the passing of Chadian-born Emmanuel Maradas, a doyen of African football journalism.

Maradas was the founder and editor of African Soccer Magazine and played an influential role in shaping the coverage of African football across the continent.

The PSL described Maradas as a trailblazer and innovator, who also contributed meaningfully to the 2010 Fifa World Cup, which was hosted in Africa and South Africa in particular for the first time in 100 years.

The PSL extends its heartfelt condolences to the Maradas family and his colleagues in the media during this difficult time.

It said a moment of silence will be observed in his honour at this weekend’s Betway Premiership, Motsepe Foundation Championship and DStv Diski Challenge fixtures and wished his soul to repose peacefully.
